A lot of business owners put off trying to get more information about updating their websites or optimizing them for search engines. Website content is important, but when you’re concerned about the cost, it’s natural to be nervous about getting more information.
We thought this would be a great opportunity to answer this question once and for all - how much does website content cost? While we can’t answer it for every agency out there, we can answer it for our own.
How Much Does Website Content Cost?
We know this isn’t the answer you wanted to hear, necessarily, but - it depends.
There are a lot of articles, blog posts, and web pages that our writers can tackle that have plenty of information available online. But there are also some pieces that require a lot of research, personal experience, and a solid educational background.
The price you pay for your content will depend on its level of difficulty. At Colwell Creative Content, our new clients start at 15 cents per word.
We take every aspect of writing your content into consideration before we tell you the cost. But there’s a lot more that goes into what we do than just putting some words on a page for our clients. Let’s explore that.
What Goes Into the Cost of Optimized Content?
It goes without saying that when you work with our agency, you get personalized, tailored content that addresses your industry, your audience, and your business needs. This is our 10th year in business, and during the last decade, we’ve put together an approach to content creation that has gotten us fantastic results.
Here’s what your money pays for when you choose to work with us.
Your project is important to us, and you’ll be assigned a project manager. We’ve taken the time to learn about our writers’ strengths and weaknesses. We know which writers are a good fit for your project.
We ensure that the right articles are assigned to the right people. And not only that, but we stay on top of everything so that deadlines are kept, and you’re not made to wait on what you need.
Search Engine Optimization and Keyword Research
If you need help with figuring out your keywords, we do that too. We help with everything from location-centered content to determining what pages you should be adding to your site to give you better visibility.
SEO is important, but a lot of our clients aren’t sure how it works. Our goal is organic SEO that will help your site reach Google’s page 1.
Research, Research, Research
We always appreciate any articles or links our clients can offer us to help us get the right information into their articles. But most of the time, we end up doing all of that research on our own.
That usually means our writers are spending a decent amount of time taking notes on your competition and what their web pages, blog posts, and websites include. We’ve learned how to gather that information so that when we write your pieces, they perform better.
Skilled and Experienced Writing
Business owners come to us for several reasons, and one of those is because of the simple fact that not everyone can write well.
We have a process at Colwell Creative Content that we use to bring on only the best writers we can find. Every prospective writer has to complete a test article before they’re offered a position with us. If they pass, great! But not everyone passes.
Our standards are very high, and your writers have the skills and experience it takes to write content that converts.
You probably weren’t aware of the fact that in order to do well on your site, your content needs to be formatted properly. That means applying the right headers, spacing, and links. We take care of that so you don’t have to once an article gets to you.
Once your article has been written, it goes straight to an editor. Our editors are great at finding mistakes, but they also use some tools to ensure your content is just right.
First, they check it with Grammarly. That will help them find any immediate mistakes that need to be corrected.
Sometimes we use Hemingway, which helps us look for things like passive tense or sentences that are hard to read.
Then, we may run it through Copyscape, which is a paid service that will ensure that your content is unique and won’t get your website penalized in any way. We have no tolerance for plagiarism around here.
Sometimes our editors have had to send articles back to our writers. If they’re not happy, those pieces are fixed until they are. Period.
Even if the editor is happy, there’s still one final step your articles will go through before you ever see them - quality control.
Your project manager will do a final overview of the article once it’s completed. They’ll look for anything that might have been missed by the editor. They’ll also make sure the outline was followed and that everything is as it should be.
Uploading and Website Programming
At this point, sometimes we just send the pages to you, the client. But we can also go one step further and upload them to your website for you if you’d like.
Every client is different, and if that’s something you’d rather do yourself, be our guest, by all means. But if not, just know that we can help with that step too.
Website Content to Grow Your Business
And that’s basically it from start to finish!
Yes, it’s a lot of steps. But quality matters to us at Colwell Creative Content. We don’t want to just check your article off our to-do list. We want to make sure it’s right.
