Need More Website Traffic? Read On!

Traffic on a busy highway at night

Whether you use Google Analytics or rely on your website’s internal analytics reports, it might be time to make some changes if you’ve noticed fewer website visitors recently.

We have lots of ideas for you! Let’s talk about them!

Research Your Competition

SEO 101 – If your website isn’t performing like it used to, that means your competition is doing something you’re not.

Take some time to check out what’s happening on your competitors’ sites. There are many things they could be doing, like:

  • Blogging more often than you are.
  • Using better social media channels.
  • Improving their websites’ speed.
  • Adding more engaging content to their sites.

It’s important to know who your competitors are and what they’re doing. But the last thing you want to do is fall behind them and get into a pattern of constantly playing catch-up.

We recommend making it a habit to check on them regularly so you can always stay a few steps ahead.

Update Your Keywords

Do you know the right keywords for your business? There are plenty of great (free) tools out there that can help you figure them out.

You might even want to start by doing a simple Google search with the keywords you think are the right ones. You might be amazed at what you learn.

If your keywords haven’t been considered for a while, it’s smart to research what they should be now. You might need to optimize your site for your location, or perhaps you’ve added some new products or services, but neglected to properly update your site’s content.

Regardless, there is no substitution for the right keywords so your site is properly optimized to get you the results you want.

Consider Adding More Pages to Your Site

A lot of websites have basically the same types of pages. These are typical:

  • Homepage
  • About Us
  • Contact Us
  • Blog

But in this day and age, getting on page one requires more. It’s hard to make a recommendation in a blog post, but here are some ideas you might want to consider:

  • Adding location pages for all the cities/states that you serve.
  • Adding service pages.
  • Adding pages for different industries you work with (if you’re a B2B business).
  • Adding an FAQ section.

If you’re not sure where to start with adding pages, take a look at what your competition is doing. What types of pages do they have?

The key to beating them is to do better.

Up Your Social Media Game

A lot of business owners spend the majority of their marketing dollars on either their website (because they believe in SEO), or on their social media (because they believe that’s where their customers are). Few focus on both, which is exactly what you need to do.

Social media and SEO play very well together, and your presence on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and even TikTok has a role in how well your website performs.

If your social media needs help, here are some ideas:

  • Plan to post on your preferred channels at least once a day; even on the weekends.
  • Make sure you’re posting on the right channels for your business.
  • Respond to all comments so your social media is engaging and it shows you care.
  • Blog regularly and share your blog posts to demonstrate your expertise.

There are other things you can do too, such as start a Facebook group around your brand, a product, or a service you offer. Why not go Live every now and then to see if you can get some real-time engagement too?
