Like millions of other business owners, you use social media for marketing your business. And like millions of other business owners, you may struggle with the same issue – how to get and keep people engaged.
When it comes to marketing on Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, and other platforms, engagement is the name of the game. But how do you build an audience and keep the one you have? Let’s talk about five different ways you can begin increasing your engagement as soon as today.
Show Off Your Staff
Your audience will love learning about all the people behind the face of your brand that make your business tick. We love sharing about all the great things our writers and staff are doing that have nothing to do with how they’re producing for our company.
For example, our business manager, Cassidy just got married last weekend. So on the day of the wedding, this was our post:
We’ve also had writers post about how great it is that they get to work from home so they can be with their children. So we’ve shared those posts too.
Your audience will love seeing the faces behind your brand.
The use of hashtags has got to be one of the most genius ideas in the world. If your business doesn’t have at least one hashtag of its own, stop what you’re doing right now and come up with one.
We love using: #LetsGrowYourBusinessTogether as our main hashtag. But we’ve also tossed around the idea of using:
- #LetsSellYourHomesTogether – for real estate agents
- #LetsInformYourPatientsTogether – for healthcare clients
- #LetsServeYourCustomersTogether – for retail clients
Hashtags can be used to invoke all kinds of emotional responses from your audience to get and keep them engaged. We love using humor and pulling at the heartstrings with our audience.
Showcase Your Company’s Culture
Your audience will love getting an inside look into your company’s culture too. What is it about how you run your business that makes it so special?
Maybe you always have a killer Christmas party every year. Post plenty of pictures! We had our very first company picnic this summer, and we took lots of pictures, wrote a blog post about the event, and posted about it on our Facebook page.
When your audience sees that your business values its workers and isn’t only about making money, it endears them to your brand. It also demonstrates what you stand for, like strong family values, for example.
Create New Images
If you have an in-house graphic designer, then you’ll have no trouble coming up with fresh, new images to share with your audience. But what if you don’t have a graphic designer on staff?
Canva is a great website that has TONS of templates that you can change to suit your needs. It’s very user-friendly, and in just a few minutes, you can have a vibrant image to use with your social media posts.
This image took about five minutes to create, including time spent searching for the perfect template.
Demonstrate Success Through Testimonials
Sometimes your audience might need some social proof to help them take the plunge and do business with you. Encouraging your current clients to leave reviews for you accomplishes a few things:
- It shows people who visit your social media pages, Google profile, etc. that others have been satisfied with your products and/or services.
- It gives you some great testimonials to share on your website and on your social media sites.
Think about the process you go through when you want to try a new restaurant. You probably find out how long it will take to drive there, get a good idea of what’s on the menu, and read reviews to see how other people have enjoyed dining there.
Your potential customers are doing the same thing when they visit your Facebook, Instagram, and other social media profiles. So get as much use out of them as you can.
