Marketing strategies are essential to growing your business.

Every day, companies come up with new and sometimes odd, but beneficial marketing strategies.

Being in the know about different and new marketing strategies can help you surpass your competitors.

What are Marketing Strategies?

According to Optimizely, “A marketing strategy is a long-term plan for achieving a company’s goals by understanding the needs of customers and creating a distinct and sustainable competitive advantage.”

In short, you’re setting your business apart from others.

Marketing strategies have different tactics that can be used to help get to the goal. These tactics are:

  • Paid Marketing
  • Organic Marketing
  • Print Marketing
  • Digital Marketing

Paid Marketing

Paid marketing strategies are just as they sound, paid. Forbes says paid marketing strategies are when a business “purchase[s] advertising that allows [them] to target audiences specifically.”

An example of this would be a sponsored post on any social media that you purchased to promote in order to reach a broader audience.

When dealing with paid marketing, it is an easy way to promote your business to others who do not follow you and might now see your content.

Organic Marketing

Conversely, Master Class states that organic marketing is “growing your audience through nonpaid efforts like social media posts, a blog that improves your rank on search engine results, or email marketing campaigns.”

An example of this marketing tactic would be a post on social media without sponsoring or boosting the post.

This is more likely to engage and reach the followers that you already have.

Print Marketing

According to Lucid Advertising, print marketing “is a form of marketing that uses physically printed media to reach customers on a broad[er] scale.”

There are many different print marketing tactics including print ads, direct mail pieces, posters, flyers, banners, and more.

These marketing tactics are a great way for others to see the product or services you are promoting when doing everyday tasks, like walking around a store and seeing your flyer.

Digital Marketing

Intuit Mail Chimp explains digital marketing as “the promotion of brands to connect with potential customers using the internet and other forms of digital communication.”

A few examples of digital marketing are promoting your products or services on platforms like Facebook, Google, Instagram, or other search engines.

Everyone in our world nowadays is online and this is a great way to reach a broad audience while they are using their phones and online.

When to Use Certain Marketing Strategies

All of these tactics are great ways to build a marketing strategy for your business.

When creating a marketing strategy for your business though, the key to creating a successful strategy is to create and build it around the audience you are trying to reach.

This means considering the region and demographics of the specific audience you are trying to reach.

In a more rural area, you will benefit from organic and print marketing, while in a more metropolitan area, you will most likely benefit more from digital and paid marketing.

Overall, any of these marketing tactics will help build a successful marketing strategy to help grow and build your business.
